Dear Karl: Denim Cowboy

Ya know it's hard to stay warm in the winter without looks so monochramatic. I've been playing around with layers alot to keep the winter frocks fresh and came up with this at 2 am.

The jacket was from a blow out sale from this coutique in Brick Lane. It's way too big but it's like my little shelter from the cold. I can pretty much fit my whole body in it.

I think mixing denims with bold browns is a pretty classic combo- and it looks pretty casual with the mixture of textures.

I'm ready to build an igloo- bring on the snow.

Dear Karl- This Time Last Year

I saw these designs and I was floored. Never even heard of McQueen let alone Gareth in little old Vancouver- then stumbled upon these designs on the pages of I.D and was floored. D

Designs like these are polarizing- many wont get them- "how can you where that blah blah"- well its art, its different, and it makes you think. Designs like these arent meant to be strutted on the street- their meant to be amuseum or some club kid party in the east.
Actually the MQueen coat is def wearable. At least i'd wear it.

Julie Oya is that you?

Dear Karl- This is Estelle Hanania

Just discovered French artist Estelle Hanania through flipping through Juxta pose- and I'm a fan. I'm not going to pretend that I understand art, but I know what I like. It's ambiguous, dark, open, clean, and bold.

Here are some examples of her work:

Not only this, but shes done spreads for Martin Margiela, Limi Feu, Hermes, and even Urban Outfitters. Her editorial work for these brands def focus less on the model and more on simplicity and objects- which is def the Margiela esthetic.

Dear Karl- First Words that Come to Mind.........

UMMMM WOW and DOg

Now your turn guys, lets play the first word game

Dear Karl- MUSE

Pictures of people partying in EAST london is........, more often then not,......... more interesting to look at then the pages of I.D and DAZED.
Why?
Because the fantasy comes to life.
ENJOY

Dear Karl: I like Pandas and Lennin

The Beatles had to perfect their craft in this seedy night club in Germany before they won over the UK.

The Book Outliers by Malcom Gladwell mentioned it. It's funny you picture the Beatles being the "everyman band," but they perfected their craft in some seedy afterhours club. Not as wholesome as you thought.

Dear Karl: Sometimes I Take Photos of My Self and Dance to Disco

And the disco i dance to is German. I sometimes wonder what Berlin would be like. It might be too potent for a lad like me.

Dear Karl- This Was Your Muse I Heard?

Daul made me believe.

Dear Karl- Listen to this

Ever since the death of Daul Kim,may she RIP, I've been listening to some her favorite minimal tracks. As you all know her suicide note was titled "say hi to forever..." and she posted a track by Jim Rivers -Go Deep.

I think Daul was really misunderstood and she was sort of able to fit in everywhere but nowhere. I actually knew her ex boyfriend that she mentioned quite a bit in her blog and it was incredibly sad to hear about her death. It was really strange. How could you miss the death of someone you never met?

Daul introduced me to The Field. The man is more then a one trick pony.

Dear Karl- Dae Jang Geum makes me wanna......

Put on a dress and make me squeeel like a nancy. It's that amazing. Dae Jang Geum aka "Jewel of the Palace" is set in 16th century Korea and i tell ya'll this drama is some pretty potent shit.

The protagonist is this girl named Jang Geum who eventually becomes the first female physcian of Korea. This chick deals with the death of her parents at a really young age. And she chooses to avenge her mothers dying wish by becoming a servant girl and reaching the top ranks as a coook ( one of teh few titles a woman could hold in the court besides concubine aka hoar or queen etc...). Total kill bill scenario minus the kill....and the billl.

This show is slow paced. If subtle nuances and character development isnt your thing try Twilight or Glee. The story build ups really nicely, and you realy start rooting for this girl to succeed despit evrything afced against her. This girl is a class act. *claps" *claps* And one of teh best opening scores EVER!!! Watch This.

Korean drama's for the most part are like crack. They will get you hooked reallly quick, and consume your life. You think of nothing else till you get your next fix. Then you want more and more until its all gone aka your weekend metaphorically could be seen as your life. Anywho Dae jang Geum is the shit.

Dont you think, how individuality seems to always be running a thin line of acceptance and rejection. Lately its been commodification.
